Niagara Islamic School and the Muslim Association of Canada have joined forces to establish MAC-NIS Islamic School – a full-time Islamic School. NIS has been in operation since 1995. Assalamu alaikum Parents,
Please read carefully the following announcements as it will be vitally important to follow all protocol during this pandemic phase. There will be staggered start dates for school in order to properly train students to follow the new protocols for arrival and dismissal, physical distancing and movement in the building.
Arrival Time will be 8:30-8:40 am. In-class circle time for duaa will begin at 8:45 am sharp. There will no longer be any circle time in the gym. Students will enter the building and go directly to class using the appropriate entrances. Students arriving after 8:45 am will be marked late and must enter from the front door. Dismissal time is 3 pm sharp.
START DATES FOR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL:
Tuesday, September 8, 2020 – First day for Senior Kindergarteners only, and Grades 4 to 8
Wednesday, September 9, 2020 – First day for Grades 1 to 3
Thursday, September 10, 2020 – First day for Junior Kindergarteners
Kindergarten Parents must drop and pick their child off at the kindergarten door behind the building directly across from the playground equipment.
Grades 1 to 3 will enter the school from the gym door beside the front entrance.
Grades 4 to 6 will enter from the Haig Street door.
Grades 7/8 will enter from the side door facing the soccer field.
At this time, parents cannot enter the school without an appointment. You may call 905-688-6622 or text for an appointment. Your entrance will be logged and subject to a COVID screening upon entry so that we can maintain accurate records of who has been in the building. We know this is a different routine, but it is for everyone’s safety at this time and we greatly appreciate your co-operation with these new measures. Masks will be required.
Mask Policy: Masks are mandatory for all students in grades 4 to 8 and must be supplied by parents. Masks for Kg to grade 3 are optional. All teachers and staff will be required to wear medical-grade masks.
